CSN was launched on 7th March 2011 to provide the Sri Lankan people a quality sports entertainment channel as a fixed option for the deserving television viewer. It is the aim of CSN to broadcast the best sports and entertainment programmes available on a free to air channel.
The entrance of a sports channel such as CSN into the television industry of Sri Lanka has been long overdue, for a nation who is both passionate and enthusiastic about Sri Lankan sports and the performance of our local sportsmen and women on any international level. Also the development and progress of many domestic sports and sporting events are often overlooked by the absence of a television channel to highlight and build awareness of such developments in Sri Lanka.
This is the first time in Sri Lanka that any network has endeavored to dedicate a channel to broadcast a lineup of predominantly sports programmes. CSN will also broadcast a selected line-up of supportive entertainment and business programmes to provide audiences with a comprehensive entertainment and information option. Focusing on this, the production divisions of CSN are constantly researching, changing, and developing the line-up to best suite the tastes and viewing patterns of our well-informed local audiences. This aspect of CSN’s programme development will be highlighted throughout its first year of operation.
With the use of the best technical knowledge and state of the art technology CSN broadcast has been expanded to an island wide coverage. (Please see attached coverage map.)
It is the goal of CSN, that through the support of sport, a united Sri Lanka can become a stronger and healthier nation producing some of the best sporting men and women in the world today.
